Commissioning Process Engineer
Job Description
1. Education: Bachelor's degree or above in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Process Systems, or a related field.
2. Professional Experience:
2.1 Minimum 8 years of experience as a Commissioning, Process, or Systems Engineer in large-scale EPC projects in the oil, gas, or petrochemical industry.
2.2 Must be proficient in the OPERCOM® methodology and the application of ICAPS© software in commissioning management. Experience as an ICAPS© advanced user or administrator is preferred.
2.3 Possess complete project commissioning lifecycle experience, from engineering preparation and system breakdown to site execution, performance testing, and handover.
3. Project Experience: Experience in the Middle East region, particularly in Iraq or on TotalEnergies projects, is highly preferred. Must be willing and able to adapt to long-term assignment from Dubai to Iraq, understanding and committing to comply with the strict travel, accommodation, and security arrangements at the Iraq site.
4. Skills:
4.1 Excellent systems thinking and analytical skills to handle complex technical problems.
4.2 Outstanding communication, coordination, and leadership skills, capable of working effectively with design teams, construction teams, subcontractors, and Company operations personnel.
4.3 Fluent in written and spoken English, proficient in writing technical reports and procedures, and conducting technical exchanges.
4.4 Strong planning and organizational skills, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and deliver high-quality results on time under pressure.
Responsibilities Duties:
1 Reports directly to the Commissioning Manager. Lead the functional breakdown of the entire NWP project (Network&Wellpads) into Systems and Sub-systems based on detailed design documents. Lead the development of commissioning deliverables. This includes, but is not limited to: the Commissioning Execution Plan, System/Sub-system Breakdown List, and Commissioning& Start-up Sequence..
2 Work closely with the ICAPS© Administrator as the key technical partner and super user to define the task structure, test packs, certificate templates, and workflows within the ICAPS© database.
3 Be responsible for allocating and describing pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance test tasks in ICAPS©, ensuring all activities are plannable and traceable.
4 Prepare or review key commissioning procedures, especially for tests involving complex temporary facilities or interfaces with existing ESD/F&G systems.
5 Participate in key design reviews (e.g., HAZOP, 3D model reviews), providing optimization suggestions from commissioning, operation, and maintenance perspectives to ensure design is commissionable and operable.
6 Review engineering deliverables (e.g., P&IDs, Equipment Data Sheets) to ensure they meet commissioning test requirements.
7 Identify and manage physical and system interfaces during commissioning with existing operating facilities and other contractors, and coordinate the development of isolation and tie-in procedures.
8 During the execution phase, act as the technical deputy to the Commissioning Manager, resolving complex cross-system technical issues and analyzing process or system performance deviations during commissioning.
9. RFC & Handover Management: Ensure sub-systems achieve RFC status as planned, coordinate RFC certification, and support the process through to AOC and TOM.
10. Coordinate commissioning priorities with Construction/Pre-commissioning teams. Support the Commissioning Manager in progress reporting and management updates.
