The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) - Inpatient Behavioral Health is responsible for supporting the operational leadership, clinical governance, and staff management of the psychiatric and behavioral health nursing units. The role ensures the successful execution of psychiatric care protocols, shift nursing resource allocations, and regulatory state audits while cultivating a therapeutic, secure, and crisis-resilient environment for psychiatric patient recovery.

Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing (BSN/MSN) from an approved healthcare institution; specialized training in psychiatric nursing is highly valued.

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of Michigan.

  • 4+ years of progressive nursing experience within an inpatient psychiatric, substance abuse, or behavioral health center, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Preferred Skills * Exceptional crisis management, non-violent crisis intervention (CPI), and behavioral de-escalation leadership talents.

  • Deep awareness of mental health privacy standards, psychiatric pharmacology, and patient rights statutes.

Experience Required 4+ years of relevant behavioral health nursing practice, including proven history directing psychiatric nurse scheduling, clinical unit workflows, or mental health compliance structures.

Responsibilities Duties:

Key Responsibilities * Coordinate and execute departmental nursing operational plans, managing psychiatric charge scheduling and daily staffing matrices.

  • Prepare behavioral health unit productivity summaries, state-level mental health regulatory portfolios, and performance logs.

  • Monitor daily de-escalation protocols and restraint/seclusion metrics, checking for strict compliance with behavioral tracking guidelines.

  • Coordinate with the Director of Nursing, attending psychiatrists, psychiatric social workers, and facility safety units.

  • Monitor unit clinical indicators (e.g., medication compliance, patient-to-patient interactions) and promptly address operational deviations or care practice gaps.

  • Maintain absolute compliance with Michigan state mental health codes, CMS provisions, and Joint Commission psychiatric standards.
