Job Description
The General Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for delivering comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative clinical services to surgical patient panels. The role ensures the successful execution of surgical first-assisting, specialized inpatient consultations, and outpatient clinic management while partnering closely with general surgeons to maximize clinical speed, accuracy, and patient recovery safety.
Required Qualifications * Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) training track or a Master’s/Doctoral degree in Nursing (NP) with specialized surgical training credentials.

Active, unrestricted Advanced Practice Provider license (PA or NP/CRNP) in the state of Alabama.

National Board Certification (NCCPA for PAs, or AANP/ANCC with acute/surgical focus for NPs).
Preferred Skills * Outstanding manual suturing, knot-tying, and surgical hardware manipulation talents.

High-acuity diagnostic capabilities to navigate fast-paced trauma setups and intensive recovery units smoothly.
Experience Required 2+ years of professional clinical experience operating as an advanced practice provider explicitly inside a general surgery department or surgical first-assist role.
Responsibilities Duties:
Key Responsibilities * Coordinate and execute preoperative physical assessments, specialized diagnostic evaluations, and immediate surgical field preparations.

Prepare structured post-operative management plans, dictating operation summaries, prescribing analgesics, and overseeing surgical wound progress.

Perform direct surgical first-assisting maneuvers under the guidance of the attending general surgeon within the main operating theater.

Coordinate with attending surgeons, perioperative nursing leads, inpatient floor tracks, and trauma emergency units.

Monitor patient physiologic benchmarks post-surgery and promptly address complications such as infections, deep vein thromboses, or suture failures.

Maintain absolute tracking accuracy across electronic medical charts, ensuring swift compliance with hospital discharge guidelines.
