Radiation Therapist
Job Description
The Radiation Therapist (Acute) is responsible for safely and precisely administering high-energy ionizing radiation treatments to oncology patients within an acute care hospital setting. The role ensures the successful execution of therapeutic regimens, advanced patient immobilizations, and daily technical imaging checks while sustaining deep clinical empathy, strict safety controls, and rapid adjustment protocols.
Required Qualifications * Graduate of an institutional radiation therapy training track accredited by the JRCERT.

Active registration as a Radiation Therapist via the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Active state-level clinical radiation therapeutic practice licensure in Arkansas.

Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Skills * Precise attention to spatial alignment details, medical imaging reading, and digital charting systems.

Strong human interaction capabilities to safely reassure and guide compromised acute clinical patients.
Experience Required * 1–3 years of clinical experience utilizing modern linear treatment accelerators within an active hospital system or regional cancer center.
Responsibilities Duties:
Key Responsibilities * Coordinate and execute therapeutic radiation exposures utilizing advanced medical linear accelerators.

Prepare treatment room configurations, checking specialized patient immobilization frames and setup parameters against clinical records.

Welcome oncology patients, explain treatment processes, and monitor physical comfort and emotional stability throughout delivery.

Coordinate with medical dosimetrists, medical physicists, oncologists, and acute care nursing teams.

Monitor treatment delivery telemetry and promptly address target motion anomalies or emergency machine faults.

Maintain absolute compliance with radiation safety parameters, tracking cumulative dosing parameters via electronic health records.
